Hi everyone, so glad you could join me again this fine Wednesday!
Our lovely, delicate H-loop tangle is from English-living-in-Norway-CZT Debbie Raaen. Previously Debbie shared her Skelter tangle with us.
Debbie writes,
I recently saw something on a vitamin box that grabbed my attention.
I had been playing with Celtic knots and I think that is why I suddenly saw the pattern, which had been right there in front of me all the time.
It was really an S and an H written together but the H part grabbed me and I started to play with it.
I found it extremely relaxing to draw as it is one continuous line, and I just about covered anything with a blank surface.
It can be drawn in a grid or dotted grid. it can be a ribbon in its purest form and can be decorated and auraed as a more complex form. It can also be mirrored to form yet another effect in a grid.
It is of course related to echoism but I’ve never seen echoism drawn in this way before.
I can see why Debbie “covered anything with a blank surface” with H-loop, it’s delightful to tangle. In both of my examples I used a dot grid. In this one on the right I felt like I was developing a new chop! Another “stopper” strategically placed would create a minimalist F, turning H-loop into LF 🙂
Debbie illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing H-loop below where she includes three beautiful Zentangle tiles and a multitude of suggestions of interesting ways to tangle H-loop.
In these steps Debbie demonstrates on a larger scale how to create one of the variations included above.

A delightful and simple new tangle!
Thank you Margaret ?
Debbie this is a stunner! Not surprising from you my friend. Can’t wait to give it a go. Love all of your examples.
My dear Jody, thank you! Look forward to seeing where you take this. ?
This is a pretty tangle. I am left-handed and have trouble drawing the loops that go to the next loop. Do I go over or under? I’ll keep playing around but has any other left-hander had this problem?
Carla don’t lift you pen at all whilst drawing it, and perhaps try drawing it from the bottom up as you are legt handed. Thanks for your lovely comment. ?
This tangle is beautiful, a real keeper! I can already tell just from reading about it that I’ll be using it a LOT. Thanks for sharing your magic with us!
Thanks Jill, I hope you have fun with it. ?
