Webb2 is our Wednesday tangle and it’s from tangler Lynne Wohleber.
Webb2 is Lynne’s second on the site, Nautikl was her first.
Although Webb2 is a grid-based tangle, in this tile Lynne demonstrates how it can be used as a free-form one as well.
Lynne explains her tangle,
This pattern is an adaptation of a needleweaving pattern I found on the cover of ”Borders: Needlecraft Source Book”.
Its multifunctionality allows it to be used as an individual pattern, in a grid, as a border, and is adaptable for a fragment.
While it was designed as a square, it also works well in a triangular shape, or it can be comfortably distorted.
Other adaptations might include moving the auras around the center of the pattern instead of the outer edges, or curving them to resemble a spider’s web with lines to the corners to simulate attachments.
Lynne illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Webb2 below where her monotangle shows how shading adds yet another dimension to the tangle, “As a gridded square, it also generates more than one pattern, and how you shade will give you a different version of the pattern.”
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

Lynne and Linda – Thank you for posting Webbs 2.
I think the treatment of Webb2 on the sample tile as “stacked cells” is suitable not only for other tangles based on a square cell but also cells of other shapes (triangle, wonky, ogee?). At least, that’s how I intend to include it in my personal journal of grid favorites that I call “It’s not your Grandpa’s checkerboard.” I’m always on the lookout for the unusual.
This looks like a lot of fun Lynne. I will add it to my list of patterns to try for sure! Thanks for sharing.
Mary D’Angelo, CZT32
