How to draw ARROW POINT

Hi everyone! Today we have a dramatic tangle for your creative explorations …

Arrow Point is from Texas tangler Susan Rogers and it’s her first on the site.

I am from a little bitty town in East Texas called Eustace about 1 1/2 hours Southeast of Dallas.

I never thought I could draw or was artistic in any way. When the 2020 Pandemic started a friend — CZT#27, Leslee Feiwus started offering a daily tangle class and I thought it would help me pass the time while we self-isolated so we wouldn’t get the virus. I immediately fell in love with the meditative Zentangle Method™ and took the basic class from Leslee. I ordered lots of Zentangle books including several of the official Zentangle books by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. I’ve been tangling for a year now and just signed up for the CZT#37 seminar in May. I can’t wait!!

My tangle called Arrow Point happened after seeing a news commentator on TV wearing a dress with this bold design. It jumped out at me and I quickly snapped a picture and started deconstructing the pattern. There are so many variations available with this tangle.

For my example of Arrow Point I wondered what it would look like if the elements weren’t filled solid black — if it went awry I could always continue to fill them — and I quite like this minimal variation.

Susan illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Arrow Point below and shows some cool variations to explore when the fragments are mirrored and/or rotated, together with a sample tile including the Zentangle-originals Paradox and Florz.
