How to draw VEEZE

Zentangle pattern: Veeze. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Veeze is a tangle from Canadian CZT Margaret Bremner and it’s one from the archives.

After our Nstitches tangle from Monday, I was on a bit of a zigzag theme and was reminded of Veeze when Margaret added Crescent Moon to her “and then some” series of tutorials. More about her series follows after we visit her tangle.

Margaret photographed and deconstructed an upholstery pattern that inspired Veeze. She writes,

Veeze is a very simple pattern, related to Static, Jonqal, and all the tangles that begin with a series of zigzags.

It’s a nice background tangle to go with something more intricate or bold.

Margaret calls this type of tangle a vessel tangle because there’s sufficient space within it to hold other tangles. Lots of ideas with that concept of using tangles as a string.

Veeze is easy to tangle and has a great many possibilities for embellishing without adding other tangles too. I’ve kept my example very simple with graphite fills, parallel strokes and a hint of shading.

Margaret illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Veeze here on her blog where you’ll also see the upholstery that inspired Veeze. Margaret’s steps include several examples of ways to vary it and she includes two lovely Zentangle® tiles featuring her tangle.

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. • Simple but nice tangle. I visited the blog and saw there beautiful compositions with Veeze in the leading role. Especially the tile with different variations on this tangle looks very cool.

I love this tangle 🙂 Easy with so many possibilities to explore and play with 🙂 I find this tangle very meditative and I slide into a flow state easily while drawing all those lovely straight lines 🙂
