Welcome to a fresh new week of tangles and thanks for joining me to explore them 🙂
Fortunately for Florida, this weekend Hurricane Laura stayed south of us but unfortunately for those along the Gulf coast, today she’s trucking towards them along with her partner Tropical Storm Marco.
It’s unprecedented to have two storms like this at the same time in the Gulf. And still the terrible fires rage in California. What a time.
Fortunately for us, Japanese CZT Emiko Kaneko is back with Nayu, another of her lovely tangles.
Nayu is Emiko’s third tangle on the site, most recently she shared the beautiful Ayame with us.
Emiko writes,
This tangle happened while drawing a Celtic knot. After decorating around it, it became a very cute tangle like Fragments.
This tangle is interesting even if it is only one or if it is connected in a grid or as a ribbon.
I can’t think of a tangle name every time. It was very difficult to decide and I had been thinking about it for a while. But I came up with a good name. A cute name for my dear cousin living in California. She is such an intellectual and cheerful woman. So, I named this tangle after her, “Nayu”.
Nayu is a beautiful focal or ribbon-style tangle and Emiko notes it can also be drawn with a grid as you’ll see in her beautiful tile example. Both Nayu and C-Knots arrived at about the same time and they share the Celtic knot concept. Both are also somewhat Ratoon-like.
Emiko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Nayu below. Be sure to note the space between the end of the stroke and the teardrop shape it’s aiming for in Step 2, that space is key to this working out correctly.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
