How to draw SPRANG

The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. This week we have Monday’s super easy tangle on Tuesday!

Today’s Sprang is from Utah tangler Heidi Sue Whitney. It’s been quite a long time since we explored her cool Torsdag tangle so it’s a pleasure to have her back with another one.

She writes,

This pattern “sprang” up in a random doodle while I was breaking through a creativity block one night.

So I named it SPRANG and thought it was unique and simple enough to send up for consideration on TanglePatterns.

An interesting side story that’s a little “woowoo”, to me at any rate. Last week I was working out this week’s tangles and planned to add Sprang yesterday so I got my example and Heidi Sue’s images prepared. Then — as you know — suddenly I ended up in the hospital but I didn’t have Sprang “the post” ready to publish. Meantime, while in the hospital one of their patient liaison folks handed me his card and I was so surprised to see the logo for Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center:

Pretty similar, right? Woowoo, I tell ya. Sprang is easy to tangle and naturally for my version I had to impose some order on it. But as you’ll see from Heidi Sue’s version it grows very nicely in a wild and free organic fashion.

Heidi Sue illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Sprang in her notebook below and she features it in a simple monotangle.

wow, I love little synchronicities like that. When you were getting Sprang ready to post, you ran into Spranglike symbols out in the world. I love how you arranged it in a circle for the thumbnail. Thanks for posting it! I’m excited to see if it begins to appear here and there.

  • Glad you are ok Linda, heart scares are no fun. Good to see you back and posting such fun tangles. But do take care of yourself, we want you around for a long time to come.
