Heidi Whitney’s Torsdag tangle is a nice one to start our our tangling week with St. Patrick’s Day coming up on Friday as it has a Celtic influence.
Heidi (she goes by HeidiSue in the online challenges she participates in) shared her Hitched tangle with us a while back. Heidi and CZT David Hunter started a monthly tangling group in Salt Lake City UT, and she was looking forward to introducing Torsdag to their group meeting yesterday.
Heidi says Torsdag was inspired by “some Norwegian/Celtic pictures I saw on Facebook.
I call it Torsdag, because it was a wooden statue of Thor that I saw, which really got me going.
I haven’t been able to find that exact same statue, but a similar picture is on my blog. …
Torsdag … is Norwegian for Thursday hahahaha! Which means Thor’s Day, right? “
Torsdag is a pretty geometric ribbon-style tangle that’s easy to draw in just 3 steps and it’s so easy to embellish too. For my example I simply added a bit of graphite to the fret shapes along with some tiny orbs here and there. (I seem to have a “thing” about putting an orb “stopper” on the sharp ends of a stroke.) You will want to pay attention to the relationship of the parallels to each other in Heidi’s Step 2 (as I’ve tried to show with the green lines here the right) so that everything comes together harmoniously.
Heidi illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Torsdag here on her blog and demonstrates several ways to vary and expand it outwards.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Dear Heidi, thank you for sharing your wonderful new tangle!
Love this one Heidi! Thanks for showing it to us at Intermountain Tanglers group yesterday. Being of Norwegian descent, I found it most interesting and a nice addition to my patterns. Thanks for sharing!
