German CZT Nadine Roller writes she named her lovely tangle Gelijoy, because “With patience (GEduld in German) and love ( LIebe means love) comes JOY!”
Nadine was so delighted when she deconstructed this tangle that she sent me an email very late one night “from the nightowl in Cologne“:
“I love these arrows as basic pattern. It is very versatile and it is so much fun tangling.
I got on a happy and cool roll last weeks while getting to the bottom of this pattern.
It is all about little curvy arrows that can be arranged as a border tangle, as a blossoming flower tangle, as a vining tangle or as a tangle to fill.
I am as keen as mustard with this pattern, because it is so versatile and brings so much joy to me.“
“Keen as mustard” is a new expression for me, but I immediately knew what Nadine meant. Definitely going to use that one when the opportunity arises!
I explored several of the ways Nadine notes Gelijoy can be arranged in a composition and ultimately settled on a “radial” version for my example. It’s definitely a pleasure to tangle whatever arrangement you choose.
Nadine illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Gelijoy here on her blog where you can enjoy several interesting examples of ways to explore this lovely tangle.
