It wouldn’t be Valentine’s season without a heart tangle or two, right?
Today my CZT#7 classmate Vikki Howard shares her sweet B’mine tangle with us, it’s her second tangle on the site. Be sure to check out her Raffz tangle too.
Vikki writes that as she was “planning an upcoming Valentine-themed project I think I discovered a new tangle pattern.
I have named this tangle B’mine as it reminds me of the heart candies available during Valentine’s Day.”
Could Vikki mean the little red cinnamon hearts?
B’mine is unusual in that it begins with a dot grid, and it is easily variable with inking, fills and shading.
Vikki illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing B’mine below and she features it in a dimensional-looking ZIA tile together with the Zentangle®-original Florz and embellished with some Bales-like rice shapes. Notice how Vikki left a white “aura” around the hearts as she filled in the shapes, very nice detail. Her addition of a bit of white charcoal pencil to give them dimension really adds a great finishing touch to her (cinnamon) heart-y tangle.
Here Vikki shares a tile showing some variations, “as this pattern works well when flattening out the ‘heart tops’ creating a fan-like appearance.”
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your comment helps motivate them to continue to share!

As soon as I saw the title of the tangle, I thought of the pastel candies that have words stamped in…”Be mine,” “You’re sweet,” “Be my valentine,” etc. Glad to see the tangle isn’t those, lol.
Very cute! Thank you!
Nice heart variation. Will be fun to do on a valentine tangle.
Nice! What I like best about it is that the ‘heart’ is sort of incidental rather than being drawn AS ‘a heart.’ I don’t know if that makes sense, but I really do like the tangle.
