Today we have two tangles for your creative explorations, a Friday bonus!
First we have Mosi, a meditative tangle that’s fun to explore because it is so flexible and unpredictable and can really fit into any shape of section in your Zentangle® tiles.
Mosi is from CZT Katy (Katherine) Kehoe of Greenbrae CA and it’s her first on the site.
Katy writes,
I come from a family of artists and have been doing various types of art in different mediums since I was a child. I have been tangling for about 4 years now and became a CZT at training #28 this past June in Providence.
I am also a one-on-one math teacher specializing in Algebra. I have always had these two sides to me, math and art. Zentangle is a wonderful method that feeds both sides of my brain.
I was inspired by some Japanese artwork I saw and developed Mosi and Mositoo. They remind me of lichen or moss hence the names. They are patterns that are easy to remember, draw and incorporate into different spaces in a tile.
I have found them to be quite relaxing to work with and satisfying to incorporate in my Zentangle tiles. They can be used as background patterns as well as dominant medallion shapes.
I agree, both are easy to remember and very satisfying to tangle.
Katy illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Mosi below and demonstrates it in a Zentangle tile with Eden Hunt’s Groovy.
Katy’s Mositoo is coming up shortly, stay tuned …
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Message to Katy
I love this tangle.
I was pleased to learn that you are close to my home in San Anselmo.
Thank you for sharing your creation.
Lynda
Yes, this is a great tangle Lynda. And I’m just north of you and Katy in Windsor, Sonoma County. How fun is that? 😀
And Katy, I this does look like Lichen. I love Lichens so I’ll use this one for sure. Thanks.
Thanks Melena! Maybe you can come down to Marin and we can all tangle together! Are you on facebook?
Hi Katy! That sounds like fun. But I’m not on Facebook. I may just have to break down and get on there just for the Zentangle if nothing else. I’m also in the midst of decluttering my house and creating a nice open area to do my tangling and getting rid of things I haven’t used in (many) years. Hard work. I’ll figure out a way to get hold of you.
Thanks Lynda! How fun that you are in San Anselmo. It would be fun to meet up and tangle some day. I will request you on facebook.
Thanks for sharing. This looks fun and tree-like and versatile.
Thanks Debbie! I it can definitely fill spaces and morph as needed/wanted. Hope you enjoy drawing it!
Love Mosi! It’s so organic and will fit anywhere. Thanks!
Thank Ann! I do like to squeeze it in when I am searching…
Congratulations Katy on your tangle published on this wonderful site! It’s a beauty!
Thanks Liza! Hope you are well!!
Very organic. ..it reminds me of bare winter trees. .. love it. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on being published on TanglePatterns! It feels good, doesn’t it?– the sharing of your tangle. ..
Thanks Joan! It is very exciting! I hope to see my tangle in other people’s work.
Interesting combo of tangles, mosi and mositoo. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sue!
I agree with Sue, indeed this is a nice combo of tangles, uncomplicated but they can be very nice in a composition! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Ria! They are fun to work with because they are so simple and can compliment many tangles.
Mosi is my favorite pattern. This is the one that really relaxes my brain.
