Can you believe it, this is our last tangle for the month of March. Wow.
Last week we enjoyed Belgian CZT Ria Matheussen’s Nouvart tangle inspired by her love of Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.
Today we are adding her pretty “companion” tangle Horti, from the same period of inspiration. A lovely pair of Zentangle® tangles!
After she had deconstructed Nouvart, Ria writes …
I didn’t stop looking for a second pattern (because there are two periods in this art movement) and so I have created Horti, based on a wonderful floor tile. Nouvart is more straight, Horti is more fluid to draw and has the possibility to make many variations.
Horti is easy to combine with other tangles but can be nice as a monotangle too.
Here is the tile Ria used as her inspiration for Horti.
Ria illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Horti below and she shows many different ways to vary her simple and versatile tangle.
BTW, if you’d like to learn more about Ria she was featured earlier this week on the Zentangle blog in a new series Rick and Maria just started, the “CZT Family Tree”. CZTs have been invited to fill in a form about themselves and submit it for this series so we can learn more about the Certified Zentangle Teachers. (I think you know enough about me so I won’t be submitting my form. Give the rest of our “family” a chance!)
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.
Check out the tag riam for more of Ria’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.

Ria, another lovely tangle!
Beautiful tangle, Ria! I really like Horti. You are really on a roll.
Very nice one Ria, I love Horti. The basic tangle is simple and can easily be made a bit more refined, a bit more complex. Beatiful.
Thank you very much Nathalie and Melena for your comments.
This is a very easy tangle but gives many possibilities.
Thanks Bram, I do appreciate your comment very much and I hope you will enjou drawing Horti.
SUPERBE CREA MERCI
I’m always glad with comments, thank you very much and enjoy Horti, it is an easy one and has a lot of possibilities.
I have to give this one a try. Love Art Deco. My master bedroom is all in this style. Thank you, Ria!
Wow, having a bedroom in Art Nouveau or Art Deco, that must be wonderful, I can only dream about that…
Thank you very much for your comment and I hope you will enjoy Horti.
Dear Linda, Thank you for adding Horti on the list.
There are already so many beautiful tangles on tanglepatterns. It is such a wonderful source of information and I am grateful Horti is also there!
Thank you so much for your compliments Ria, and thanks too for sharing your tangles. Look forward to seeing what else you deconstruct 😉
Oh this one is SO cool! I’m going to have fun playing with it!It sort of reminds me of Gothic, which is a favorite of mine.
Thank you Heidi for your comment, I just read it, I hope you ‘ll enjoy.
