How to draw APROX

Quite some time ago NY tangler Susan Pundt shared her lovely Flowervine tangle with us. Today we’re featuring her Aprox tangle which has been waiting patiently in my “pending” folder. Today it’s time for Aprox to emerge.

How did it come by its name? Susan writes,

Aprox is quite an amalgam. It started as Sproxy does, sort of, but wandered  off among a number of others. I couldn’t find one like it tho’ several are close in one particular or another (hence the name, Aprox, for approximate.)

Sproxy begins with a grid of diamonds where Aprox combines diamonds and dots for its underlying grid then adds rice shapes, curves, triangles and inner auras. For my example I liked what I saw when I completed Step 4 before the inner auras so that’s where I stopped. Then I added a bit of graphite fill in place of Susan’s shading.

Susan illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Aprox below and features it in a lovely Zentangle® tile along with Vicki Bassett’s Showgirl.
