Today’s Heart Offset is from Aussie Helen Williams and if you’ve been around the tangling world for a while you’ll know that Helen has created lots of great tangles.

Heart Offset becomes the 28th tangle on the site featuring heart shapes. You can locate them all in the TANGLES BY TYPE section in the left sidebar, or clicking on the tag “hearts” in the date band at the bottom of this post.

AND you can locate all of Helen’s tangles on TanglePatterns by clicking on her tag (helenw) in the same location. The tags are all live links.

Look for this date band at the end of the post to locate tags for this tangle.

Look for this date band just above the comment box at the end of any post to locate tags for that particular tangle.

Heart Offset begins with a channel grid, which is a grid composed of more-or-less parallel lines forming channels. Wonky parallel lines can also be used for another effect.

Heart Offset is a little similar to Elena Hadzijaneva’s Join but Helen’s “half-drop” and alternating directions makes the difference creating Heart Offset. The strong contrast of black and white adds an interesting optical effect to Heart Offset, similar to CZT Sue Schneider’s recent Achy-Breaky.

Helen illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Heart Offset here on her blog where she includes “A red and black sample on some wonky lines.

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Just when I was searching for a Valentine’s Day theme, Helen to the rescue! I love the “wonkiness” of this tangle. It looks like it would be good to draw on shells or pebbles too.

  • Thanks for posting this, Linda! I adore Helen Williams’ blog and trying my hand at her lovely tangles and amazing techniques. This is a fun one! Thanks too for pointing out the “Tags” bar just above this comments section … I hadn’t noticed it before! 🙂
