Clamz comes to us from Arkansas CZT Sharon Wrench and it’s her first on the site.
Clamz can be used either in a free-form fashion or in a grid-based version, both of which she illustrates below.
Sharon introduces herself and her tangle,
I grew up in San Diego, CA, but moved away about 20 years ago. I miss the ocean and walking down the beach picking up shells. We would dig for clams and cook them on the beach. My parents have passed on, but the good memories remain. This pattern reminded me of the clams.
I became a CZT in June 2014 and love Zentangle! I’m currently giving lessons at the Wild Hare Bed & Breakfast in Monticello, AR.
Clamz is easy to draw, especially the grid based version I used for my example based on Sharon’s monotangle below. I found the version on the right required some practice to get one to fit “inside” the other smoothly, rather than lumpily! In the end I started at the top and worked down because starting at the bottom just wasn’t happening for me. Your mileage may vary.
Sharon illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Clamz below and demonstrates it in two possible formations.
In this second example, Sharon demonstrates Clamz in a pretty monotangle grid-type of arrangement with lots of orbs spilling out.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

What a fun tangle!
Love it! Thanks Sharon!
What a pretty – and easy! – tangle. I see this becoming a favorite of a lot of tanglers. Thanks to Sharon for creating this and to you, Linda, for sharing it with your community. Love it!
CLAMZ is a delight to look at and a delight to draw. THanks.
OMG this tangle is beautiful ! Such a simple set of lines to make an amazing pattern….By the way, my family lived in Burbank in the late 40’s early 50’s and we used to go to Malibu Beach and have clambakes right on the beach…Fabulous memories! We also share the same name ?
Beautiful design, and it makes me wish I was sitting in front of a peck of steamers, with buillion and drawn butter, back home in Maine. Sigh! I will enjoy working with this, so thank you for posting it, Linda, and thank you for sharing it, Sharon.
Sharon, this is my kind of tangle. Thanks for sharing it!
I agree with the others: this is a wonderfull and easy tangle that I’m gonna use certainly in my tiles. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. I love it
Sharon this is really pretty! Love that it is so versatile and can be used so many ways. Can’t wait to try it.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words and to Linda for her hard work. I look forward to seeing what you do with the pattern!
