How to draw DRAWINGS

Drawings is a new Zentangle®-original tangle that was introduced at the recent zenAgain get-together for CZTs in November.

Drawings has just been “released to the wild” by HQ as part of their “Twelve Days of 3Zs Christmas” series, together with Icanthis (“Special Edition Two” coming up next on the site).

On the Zentangle blog post for this 10th day, Rick and Maria share this “Insider tip”, “We pronounce the tangle name ‘drawings’ as ‘draw-Wings’ fully pronouncing the ‘W’. We smile every time we say it.

As Rick writes in the newsletter, Drawings and Icanthis:

were inspired by patterns seen in nature (wings and leaves). We remind you that our intention is not to draw wings or to draw leaves. Rather our objective is to take the inspiration of these iconic shapes and deconstruct them so that you can tangle them into inspired images that may look like nothing anyone has ever seen! …

These are high focus tangles . . . so take your time and enjoy how your approach to drawing them develops as you do it more and more.”

For Maria’s illustrated step-by-step instructions for tangling Drawings, visit this newsletter. Lots of inspiring and beautiful examples in the newsletter and on today’s post.

Today is the tenth day of the series which has thus far included:

“On the x day of 3Zs, Bijou tangled me … ”
