Today’s sweet Cake tangle (’scuse the pun) was submitted by new Taiwan CZT Janis Wang, and it’s from her 9-year-old daughter Una.
Janis is one of the 135 graduates from the recent CZT-Asia#1 certification seminar but in an interesting switch, it was Una who introduced Janis to Zentangle®.
Janis writes,
Just in love with Zentangle this year, because of my daughter Una.
She discovered Zentangle in school last year. And she enjoys it all the time.
And l’m so lucky to open mind to try it, and learn with Laura Liu (CZT #17).
Cake is a perfect Monday tangle, simple to draw and offers loads of possibilities for embellishment. In my example I used a little more weight on the large orbs of Step 5, and added a touch of graphite under each row to add a bit of dimension. You can use Cake as a ribbon or border tangle, or fill any shape section of your Zentangle tile.
Una illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing her Cake tangle below and makes it the centerpiece of her lovely duotangle with the Zentangle®-original ’Nzeppel.
Well done, Una! We look forward to seeing more of your tangles 🙂
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Una, I really like your pretty, lacey pattern! It would make a nice border around the edge of a picture – Thank you for sharing it!
Love it! The shading on your finished tile is great–it looks like the large circle is popping off the page!

BRAVO
Una, this is my new favorite tangle! I love simple, elegant tangles that are easy to learn and remember. They make lovely additions to envelopes, restaurant receipts, or anywhere a little touch of art is needed. Thank you!!
