Happy Black Friday, and welcome to everyone who is NOT out shopping today. That includes me! Shopping is far from my favorite pastime and being out in throngs of people is my LEAST favorite thing of all!
Today we have another tangle from Swiss CZT Hanny Waldburger — her lovely Fleavy. Hanny explains she considers it a Flux-style tangle done in an Arukas-like style, both Zentangle®-original tangles.
Hanny was tangling using Flux and began to add aura strokes to it,
That was a lot of fun, so I could not stop it. Finally I decided that this Flux-Variation deserves a name and I drew a step out for it.
The lines remind me of the ‘flow’ of a river, or the ‘Flow’ I experience when drawing. So I came up with the word mix of Flow and Leafes, what together would be ‘Fleafes’ which I didn’t like completely, so I’ve made ‘Fleavy’ of it.
Fleavy adds dynamic and lightness and is a lot of fun to draw.
Fleavy is a pretty ribbon or border tangle and interesting effects can be achieved by splitting and weaving the ribbon as you’ll see in the Zentangles on Hanny’s blog. Hanny includes this lovely monotangle Zendala by CZT Betsy Wilson.
Hanny illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Fleavy here on her blog, scroll down that page for the English translation of her German entry. Hanny features Fleavy in two of her own beautiful Zentangle tiles as well as one by “Susanne (an experienced and passionate tangler)” in which Susanne also shows a ZIA version of her Zentangle with color added to it.

This is really cute!! A wonderful and refreshing tangle indeed. Looking forward to using it. Thanks Hanny.
Pretty X 3 !!!
“Refreshing” – I agree with Sayantika! I find I’m really enjoying the less-structured tangles these days … the ones that I “get” with just one look at the step-outs. This one is so lovely & flowing! Thank you Hanny!
Love this tangle. Just fun to do. Can make something look really elegant.
