How difficult it is for me to begin today. But a good start is this photo gallery showing solidarity around the world – it’s awesome.
“Around the world, cities joined in solidarity with Paris, lighting up monuments in blue, white, and red.”
The Zentangle® world sends its prayers to all the people of France suffering from the deranged, unconscionable tragedy of Friday’s violence.
And also to the people of Lebanon who suffered a similar atrocity in Beirut a day earlier.
…
Today’s C-stem tangle is from Swedish tangler Agneta Landegren.
Agneta writes, “I call it C-stem, because it’s drawn with C-shapes and they remind me of a tree-stem (– or trunk). It’s easy to draw and there are many possibilities for variation, and shading makes quite a difference.”
While it might look complex to draw, C-stem it really isn’t. If you aim for the C-shapes in Step 1 to each take about one third of the grid square, the rest of the steps flow smoothly. On the right is a variation of C-stem where each grid square alternates direction as Agneta shows in her instructions.
Agneta illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing C-stem below and shows ways it can be used as a pretty border or ribbon tangle in addition to some variations.

this looks like a winning pattern! Thank you, Nancy
Merci pour vos pensées amicales envers le peuple français .
Ah. I like it. Your blue ZIA with the “inset” piece is lovely. I like the ribbon version best, but they are all pretty.
Agneta– I love this pattern!! Beautiful variations. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Thank you, also, Linda, for the avenue you have provided for all of us to learn and share this beautiful art called Zentangle.
My heart goes out to the people of France and Leban because of this horrificMay you and your family and friends find peace.
Nancy Pj
Looks so intricate but it’s easy to do. Love it!
