Strata is another tangle from CZT® and professional longarm machine quilter Jane Monk of Tasmania. Australia is a real hotbed of tanglers these days and Jane is one of several “Tazzie” CZTs, along with Michele Beauchamp and Kit Murdoch.
Strata “reminds me of the, well, Strata of the earth … Basically you draw shapes and connect them with straight lines, I like to use multiples of three going every which way,” Jane writes.
Strata is a fun, simple tangle pattern to draw. You’ll get totally absorbed in drawing the geometric shapes in varying sizes and all those little connecting lines. No planning, no pencil guidelines (never if it’s a tangle pattern!), no decision-making. Perfectly soothing right-brain activity.
