All inspired by her February CZT® training, Mary Masi is back in Sarasota, Florida, and offers this St. Patrick’s Day tribute with her tangle pattern, LukiLine.
Although the shamrocks associated with St. Patrick’s Day actually only have 3 leaves, a four-leaf clover is considered lucky and so we have LukiLine.
“LukiLine grew out of my enjoyment of moving across the page without lifting the pen.”
With the exception of the little vein lines I added at the end, LukiLine is drawn just as Mary describes — without lifting your pen.
A digression — as St. Patrick’s Day approaches, did you know that St. Patrick was actually born in England? He was kidnapped by Irish invaders as a young child and taken off to Ireland to work as a servant. Later in life he returned to England but he loved Ireland so much that he went back there to live. One of my husband Robert’s favorite books is Thomas Cahill’s How the Irish Saved Civilization and he recommends it to everyone — so I thought I’d mention it here for you too. You’ll learn about St. Patrick’s fascinating life and much more about Irish history.
Okay, back to the pattern …
In her instructions for drawing LukiLine, here, Mary suggests “think Figure 8”.
She also shows several ways of decorating LukiLine for variation.

If I may politely set the record straight. Firstly,St Patrick is indeed the patron saint of Ireland. His symbol the wee shamrock he used to explain the trinity…three leaves, not four. Both the patterns mentioned (sh’rock)as well are therefore four leaf clovers and NOT shamrocks. Pretty tangle pattern though.
Good catch, Bunny. Thanks for setting the record straight – I bet I wasn’t the only one who didn’t notice these are not shamrocks. Still, the fun intent is all good!
Lovely, looks a bit like my four leaf clover, also drawn in one line…. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellenwolters/5508465149/
Such a sweet tangle and one I actually can do! Lots of ideas running around in my head right now. Hope I can catch one and play – yep, I can be young of heart.
