How to draw RETURN

Zentangle pattern: Return. Image © Linda Farmer and ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.NY CZT Beatrice Aronas Returns today with her second tangle on the site.

Return “shares DNA” with Beatrice’s Jud, both ribbon-style tangles.

Beatrice created this lovely tile featuring both to demonstrate their differences with Return providing the central focal point and Jud among the supporting cast.

Beatrice explains the meaning of her Return tangle:

For the last few months the Universe was pushing me intensely to look back and take care of certain unfinished things, forgotten projects, postponed creative ideas. I was so grateful to reconnect with my first Zentangle teacher, even very briefly; met with my Sanskrit language teacher after a decade not seeing him and had a serious talk about my return to study this language; started organizing my zentangle patterns/ tangles, and many more, bigger and smaller events, prompting me to finish, to re-embrace old plans and ideas from the past or eliminate some of them as not serving me anymore. It is like a Spring cleaning making way to new things and events.

Return came into existence when I was playing with Jud tangle searching for something more minimalistic, simpler. The base or the first step is almost like Jud’s, except that the end turns into a spiral. However, the second step changes it into very bold, ”chunky” pattern which can stand alone as a central piece while Jud is smaller and could be better for the borders or mingled with other patterns.

Beatrice illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Return below where she features it in an original white Zentangle tile together with Jud, a monotangle black tile, and a Renaissance Tan tile together with several Zentangle-original tangles.

    Hello Beatrice & Linda,

Happy Easter Monday !!?..OMG..This tangle is amazing !! I am going to definately enjoy tangling “Return”.Thank you Beatrice….Linda, I love how you use the expression “shares DNA”, ’cause I really think all the “Root” Tangles have already been launched !!

    • Linda Farmer, CZT

Thanks Sharon, but I can’t take credit for the expression – I’ve borrowed it directly from Rick and Maria, aka The Root. 🙂

      Happy Easter Monday, Sharon!

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my tangle.Your comment is very encouraging! (I loved this DNA expession, too!)

    ..But I love the analogy!!

Thank you so much for this tangle, Beatrice. I seem to have Notre Dame cathedral on my mind because all I can see on the black Zendala is chiming bells. Even the scrollwork is Gothic.

    • Beatrice Aronas

Dear Linda, thank you very much for your time commenting on my pattern.
Yes, this is unbearable sadness what happened to the Notre Dame Cathedral. It is on our minds and our hearts with hope that it will get restored to its full glory. Your comment is so meaningful. Thank you.
