How to draw ZENITH

Zentangle pattern: Zenith. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.comThe lovely Zenith tangle is the latest Zentangle®-original, introduced in April this year at CZT training seminars 18 and 19.

Zenith is elegantly simple, composed of Zentangle’s elemental strokes of a curve and a straight line. And an aura and an orb here and there. Not only is Zenith a very easy tangle to draw, but I think you will be quite amazed at the wide variety of variations possible with these few simple elements.

Rick and Maria introduce Zenith here in their newsletter. They also show several tiles developed when demonstrating Zenith at the seminar, including a striking all-over pattern variation on a black Zentangle tile.

As it turns out, Zenith became number 150 in the list of official tangles.

Update March 19, 2018 – Sakura produced this 16-minute video featuring CZT Molly Hollibaugh tangling Zenith with a White Sakura Gelly Roll pen on a Black Zentangle tile.

Rick and Maria also introduce us to Hawaiian CZT Jason Poole and Zentangle Hula, a song Jason wrote for his graduating class, CZT17 in November 2014. In this song Jason’s lyrics put together everything that’s important in Zentangle, with a little hula rhythm. enjoy!

UPDATE December 7, 2018 – Project Pack #04. As part of the Twelve Days of Zentangle, 2018 Edition series, in this Day 5 video at 03:38 Maria demonstrates how to tangle Zenith.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle. Wow! Our own special song! I loved Jason’s video, the words were spot on and the hula tune was a happy one, which put a smile on my face instantly! And that’s not all…(as they say on TV), we have the added bonus of a new tangle from Rick and Maria…..makes it quite a morning to wake up to in our house ! I have already had a go at Zenith and it is definitely a ‘keeper’, heap and heaps of variations to play with.
Thanks Jason, Rick and Maria and Linda for sharing !

What a great video. Loved the tune and the happy words. I do Dru Yoga which always starts with activations and that song will be added to my collection of tunes to loosen up with. The tangle looks wonderful – am planning to use the border variation on a card I am about to make to send to our family in America. Thank you Maria, Rick and Jason and for you Linda putting it all together so well. Beverley Carter, Adelaide, Australia.

This is a great tangle. I’ve been practicing variations in my sketch book. Now to include it on my next tile. Thanks so much to Maria and Rick, and to you, Linda, for this great collection of tangle patterns.
