How to draw ECHOISM

Zentangle pattern: EchoismAnother official tangle pattern to add to our library! I added this image to the site’s header last summer (2010) because it was one of the tangles I really enjoyed drawing but until now there haven’t been online instructions so I could “officially” add it to the index. But now I can! Chicago-area CZT® Sue Jacobs demonstrates how to draw the official tangle Echosim in a video filmed at the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Summer 2011 meetings.

Echoism‘s “bones” are a continuous cursive capital L drawn to to fit its section, and the spaces in between are filled with an “echo” of the shape of each outer space. Here in my example I’ve also added a little shading. Echoism is a lovely flowing tangle pattern that fills up a section quite rhythmically.

The video has just been posted on TanglePatterns, here. If you’re in a rush to watch the step-by-step instructions, fast forward to 4 minutes.

Check out the tag zentangle for all of the official Zentangle® patterns with online instructions.
