How to draw FLOATFEST

Zentangle pattern: FloatfestEarlier this Spring CZT® Carole Ohl hosted a Zentangle® “Re-Treat” at Oakwood Retreat Center in Selma, Indiana and the lovely tangle pattern Floatfest, named for the event, was first presented there.

FloatFest 2011 was “a Zentangle-inspired retreat that was open to anyone who wanted to spend a long weekend immersed in the fun of Zentangle.” This is Carole’s drawing of the tangle used with her permission.

Floatfest uses the Zentangle® technique of “drawing behind” to achieve its lacy appearance and “It works best on a rounded area of the string, so the auras can dance a bit. … The trick to its charm is not to control it. Let the auras fall where they may and appreciate and love them for just where they are.”

Carole illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Floatfest, here.
