How to draw ÉQUERRE

Zentangle pattern: ÉquerreThis bold tangle pattern is from Canadian CZT® Geneviève Crabe, and this is her illustration used with her kind permission. I like how she’s given it a faint drop shadow for dimension. Originally from Montreal, Geneviève gives her tangles French names and Équerre is French for square.

I thought I’d try Équerre on a much smaller scale, so I played with it on a grid. A simple as this looks, this pattern requires concentration – at least it does if you’re trying to watch a roller coaster Masters tournament at the same time!

Zentangle pattern: ÉquerreHere’s the result of my experiment. Geneviève shows the step-by-step instructions for drawing Équerre, here.

For those of you interested in improving your drawing skills, Geneviève recently began offering an online tutorial “Learn to draw a Rose in pen and ink” on the same page – look for the image link in the right sidebar for pricing and details. And be sure to tell her I sent ya!
