Today’s cool tangle Polystatic will have your aura-ing skills a good workout!
It’s from UK CZT Lucy Farran and it’s her 11th on the site. Most recently Lucy shared her Graticula with us and Polystatic looks a little like it could be a cousin of Lucy’s Hammersmith.
She writes,
Polystatic is a tangleation of the Zentangle HQ original tangle Static that I think it is different enough to warrant its own step out.
I have called it Polystatic, as the zigzag line that gets auraed looks a bit like pentagons or hexagons (polygons).
The inspiration came from the blouse of a lady who was standing in front of me in the queue at the bakery. I tend to photograph any interesting patterns I spot when I am out and about (even people’s clothing, I have no shame).
Speaking of having no shame, for “my” Polystatic example I’m using Lucy’s own beautiful example.
Lucy illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Polystatic below. She features it in three gorgeous Zentangle tiles, noting: “The examples show how it can be used as a linear or radial border, or used repeatedly to fill a space. The auras can also just be repeated further outwards to fill a string section, as with Static.”

Oooooooo, Lucy, what a fabulous tangle!!! And it’s just amazing how your different shading patterns change its look!! I know what I’ll be exploring during my “tangle time” today. 🙂
Bravo, Lucy. I particularly like the shading and white highlights on your tan Renaissance tile that gives Polystatic some “motion”.

I just saw this tangle in last week’s newsletter. Later in the week I saw it again on TV. A reporter was interviewing someone, and the chairs they were sitting on had this pattern in black, white, and gray. Couldn’t figure out why it was so familiar. Now I know: I saw it here first!
