How to draw S-KNOT

Greetings y’all!

“We” are STILL working on getting my computer back online {aka getting my life back again!} so this will necessarily be brief.

Note: for those who’ve sent emails, I’m receiving them it’s just taking me more time than usual to respond. I’m really not good at phone inboxes! Apologies and many thanks for your patience.

Today’s S-Knot tangle comes from Taiwan CZT Curtis Hwang and it’s his fourth on the site.

Curtis introduces his tangle and gives us a nicely crafted scientific methodology to follow to create it:

The deconstruction of S-Knot is inspired by Y-Knot, and is different from Y-Knot which uses straight lines to form a knot.

S-Knot is based on the “S” element to construct an elegant knot.

Proceed as follows:

(1) Take a center point.

(2) Draw a slender S in each of the four directions of the center point, and name it S1.

(3) From each S1 to the right (or to the left) and then branch out S2.

(4) Extend each S2, draw a aura parallel to S1, and name it S3.

Korean CZT HyunJu Park’s Y-Knot is composed quite differently from Curtis’s S-Knot. Both are fun and easy tangles to explore …

Curtis illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing S-Knot below and features it in a cool Zentangle® tile. I particularly like the enthatching type of shading he’s used at the center of the knot.
