How to draw INDI-A

Hi everyone, welcome to a brand new week of tangle fun and inspiration.

But first … what a great weekend that was!

UEFA’s EURO2020 tournament football matches (a carry-over from last year, for obvious reasons) have been fantastic entertainment. And the Grand Départ of Le Tour de France rolled out from Brest in the northwest of France on Saturday morning, it never fails to delight and surprise. The next few weeks promise to be wonder-ful for we armchair sports fans!

Today’s Indi-A tangle is from CZT Anu Singh, originally from India but now living in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates.

Anu writes,

I have had a long career in advertising, digital & social media marketing. I worked hard for years to raise my two daughters alone and then took the first step to go to Rhode Island to be a CZT at CZT 31.

My life has been so much richer and peaceful and I started on my creative journey with so much gratitude.

About her tangle she writes,

I tangle a lot but I also paint and do other mediums that include tangling.

I am from India and I am passionate about Indian art and the amazing shapes that are used. Indian folk art uses many shapes inspired by natural fruits and vegetables. Every time I tangle, I miss an Indian shape or touch to my tangling. So I did a lot of research and realised there were few tangles with Indian inspired shapes.

I got my inspiration from the Mango or the Paisley shape and then created the tangle Indi-A. Its named after India and the capital A goes with my name Anu!

I love working with it and it can be filled with any pattern or lines. It has endless opportunities after the basic shape is done, as you can see in the tile included with the steps.

To me the more obvious shape to Indi-A is the every-popular heart and as a result my example looks less paisley-like. A fun tangle and as Anu points out it can be filled with any embellishment that takes your fancy. Full of love no matter how you think of it.

Anu illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Indi-A below where she also features it in a Zentangle tile with Karry Heun’s Sand Swirl, CZT Hanny Waldburger’s Fleavy and the Zentangle-original Diva Dance, Waltz version.
