How to draw WYSE

Hi everyone! Lovely to see you again 🙂

New York CZT Jody Genovese shares her quirky, fun Wyse tangle with us today.

At first glance Wyse reminded me of CZT Carole Ohl’s Lava Juice tangle from many years ago, in fact it was the third tangle ever submitted to the site. LOTS of water under that bridge!

Wyse is Jody’s 19th tangle on the site — all excellent ones you won’t want to miss. She writes,

I’m calling it Wyse because it 1) looks like clumped up Y’s  and 2) it also looks like clumped up wisdom teeth!  However, I’m going with #1 because that is less disgusting!!

Let your pen be your guide with the line as you go and not to try and plan for the ‘Y’s. They will show up automatically as you start the rounding process.

It really is easy and fun. 

This is so much fun to tangle from creating the loopy line in Step 1 through closing the shapes in Step 2, adding rounding in Step 4, and finally shading for that 3D effect.

Jody illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Wyse below where she suggests, “First look for ‘Y’ shapes and close those off in interesting ways. (Flip and do on both sides.)” She includes a fun tile and a Zendala featuring Wyse using Project Pack #13‘s General’s Sketch & Wash pencil for shadows and contrast.
