How to draw CIDER

Hi again everyone!

Today Swedish CZT Eriko Ågren shares her Cider tangle with us. This is her second tangle on the site, Nana was her first.

Eriko explains how her Cider tangle came about:

One evening when I was having dinner at home with my husband – you know, a cozy time on a Saturday evening! – I realized the glass I had my alcohol drink “Cider” (which is usually called “Swedish Cider” outside of Sweden) was making a beautiful pattern with a reflection!

This was created by accident but turned out to be beautiful and I just couldn’t make a new tangle out of it 🙂

“Cider” (pronounced as ‘Si:der’) is very easy to draw and you can create many variations of it.

You start drawing a sort of “V” but with curved lines. And connect the two points with another curved line. And then add two curved lines inside of the “V” like you see on the steps.

Eriko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Cider below where she includes a whole range of variations for embellishing the shapes as well as how to tangle it free-form, as a ribbon-style tangle and as a focal image in the round.
