Today’s Hemp tangle is from Hong Kong CZT Benise Wu, member of the CZT-Asia #5 seminar.
And yes, it has the same name as Sandy Bartholomew’s Hemp and actually looks quite a bit like it. But not completely. Also arrived at differently. On the page for Sandy’s Hemp you’ll find 2 more deconstructions for it including 3Y and Eilusions as well as Maria’s explorations in video-form.

This Hemp is Benise’s first tangle on the site. She introduces herself and this tangle:
Greetings from Hong Kong!
I am pleased to present a pattern to the Zentangle community – “Hemp”. Hemp falls in the category of geometrical patterns, which are commonly used in the design of traditional clothing, such as Kimono. The repetitive and never-ending patterns express best wishes, such as “evergreen” “life and growth”.
Hemp is born in February 2021 which is the season of the Spring and the Chinese Lunar New Year Festival in the Asian Community. We express our best wishes to friends, colleagues, and family members during this important festival.
Therefore, I am taking this opportunity to present this geometric pattern, wishing for good health and happiness during the challenging times.
As is often the case for my examples, after a few practice rounds I ended up tackling this Hemp in a different sequence than the one Benise presented. I began with Step 4 (evenly spaced vertical lines) then returned to Step 2 and worked my way out from the center. I added some graphite to the diamond shapes to emphasize a different aspect of the pattern. Different path, same destination 🙂

More like this: 
Dots placed in figure 1 for HEMP are not shown in the same configuration in figure 2. I found this frustrating when trying to draw the tangle. I’m a beginner and perhaps the pattern evens out somehow but I struggled with it.
I like it. Thank you.
As with Jane above, I had a hard time following too. I tried, but ended up in frustration and quitting. 🙁 I’ll have to get some graph paper later and figure it out. i do like this pattern.
