Happy February! Praying for warmer weather in the Northern Hemisphere where it’s been brutally cold, and cooler for our tangling friends in the Southern Hemisphere where it’s been scorching hot.
If only we could share!
Today I have another fun grid-based tangle for you to explore. It might look complicated but it’s really very easy, and not unlike the Zentangle®-original Bales in some ways (grid with rice shapes), but fancier.
Creamy is from CZT Katia Parrett and it’s her first on the site. Creamy has lots of possibilities and options for shading, inking, and so on. Possibly even wonky grids. Here’s one of Katia’s pretty sample tiles:
Katia introduces herself and her tangle:
Hello! I am Katia Parrett CZT29 from Brazil, living in Somerset, Kentucky.
I am very excited creating my first tangle. I named it Creamy because I have a moisturizing tube from Brazil and I noticed the design on it.
I started to draw it and then I realized that it can have many variations as a grid (my favorite), blossom and border and it could be a fragment also.
For me it seems like drawing Paradox, one stroke at a time and it is good for focus.
We can shade in different ways, put some drama inking some areas, I really love that.
I hope everyone can enjoy and relax drawing this tangle.
Katia illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Creamy below where she features it in three monotangle tiles showing several possible ways to vary her tangle.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share!

Flowers in a grid, like this very much, thanks for sharing!
This looks like a lovely tangle with lots of possible variations. I appreciate that in a pattern, because it give my imagination more room to explore. Can’t wait to try. Thank you, Katia!
Hello Katia/Linda,
Beautiful !!
Thank you for sharing..
Sharon Jerkovic
Hello Katia! My first attempt at Creamy went well up to a point! Until being in the zen mode took over and it took on a life of its own, I thought how funny. mine ended up looking like a cut work flower with embroidery at the center. I love it its so versatile.
IT’s amazing how easy this comes together using the fragment and reticula method. It’s clearly a tangle with much scope for creative play…looking forward to it! And how clever of you to deconstruct it from your body lotion! love it!
Hello everyone! Thank you very much for the nice comments! I’m sorry, only now I’ve seen your emails Linda. I was getting the emails correctly, and I do not know how, but this month they were in the spam folder. But I’ve already corrected this. I’m very happy that you all liked the Creamy tangle.
Thank you very much Linda!!
Beautiful pattern! I have not tried it yet, but will try it soon. Thank you for sharing.
