How to draw VIVI

This is the weekend in South Florida where we traditionally kick off the Christmas season with our holiday Boat Parades, the largest being the Fort Lauderdale Winterfest Boat Parade which I’ve written about in the past. “It’s 12 Miles of the ‘Greatest Show on H2O’. “

Tomorrow night is party time for miles and miles all up and down South Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway.

You haven’t lived until you see Santa and his reindeer on the prow of a sailboat adorned with Christmas lights and surrounded by carolers trying to make themselves heard above all the music going on around them, mega yacht horns blaring the loudest. Or see him arrive with his sleigh surrounded by palm trees 😀

Every year boat owners attempt to outdo each other with their fantastic decorations. It’s truly a fun tradition that gets the holiday season going with a bang.

As for Friday’s tangle, Taiwan CZT Hsin-Ya Hsu shares her Vivi tangle with us. Hsin-Ya and her Mom, Damy, have lots of lovely tangles on the site.

Vivi was inspired by this wallpaper which Hsin-Ya deconstructed into her grid-based tangle. Sorta like Christmas trees, right?

Hsin-Ya explains how she adapted the pattern and how she named it,

My source of inspiration is the wallpaper pattern, I reduced the number of lines, it looks relatively simple.

Of course, you can draw a little more, the level will be better. I also did a little change, like the direction of bold lines,

I named Vivi for this pattern, because it looks like two “V”. And my neighbor – a cute five years old girl, her name is Vivi. She likes to draw together with Damy and I.

We enjoyed the time together drawing.

Hsin-Ya illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Vivi below where she features it in a monotangle using a wonky grid and just the slightest touch of shading.
