Another tangle from the archives!
This cool ribbon-style tangle named Centraal is from Belgian CZT and multilingual conference interpreter Rita Nikolajeva, and it’s her third tangle on the site.
Rita’s Auskelis and Borbz are both interesting tangles and Auskelis has an unusual background you might like to check out.
Rita illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Centraal here on her flickr account where she also features it in a monotangle with several different variations to explore.
Rita’s examples for Centraal reminded me of a very early Zentangle® “tutorial” by cofounder Maria Thomas titled “Line ’em Up!” which includes several tiles of ribbon or border-style tangles. Always a pleasure and inspiring to study Maria’s artistry and learn from her ideas for using tangles.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share!
Check out the tag ritan for more of Rita’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.

I’m glad to have find another lovely border to use on my tiles, thank you Rita!
Oh my gosh, I have been having so much fun with this pattern! I filled up a sketchbook page with it. Wouldn’t it be fun to make it a string, and fill each section with a tangle!
Yes, exactly like Maria’s tutorial I linked to above 🙂
