Canadian tangler Cyndi Knapp shares her Wavlin tangle with us today and it’s her fourth tangle on the site.
Wavlin is a great tangle for exercising your stroke control while remembering to take your time with each individual stroke.
Cyndi writes,
This pattern transpired as I tangled a Zendala (reproduced in the illustration shown).
It’s named for its opposing lines and waves which give it the effect of an optical illusion.
It’s simple to draw and easily adapts to whatever shape you tangle in.
Cyndi illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Wavlin below and she notes “to complete the Steps more quickly, I only used half of each box but it’s meant to fill the space in which you’re tangling.”
Cyndi’s striking Zendala featuring Wavlin shows a great example of how the tangle enhancer sparkle can add so much dimension to your tile.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Very cool. Recently, I’ve attempted to improve the balance of light, airy patterns with darker, denser patterns in my tiles. I’m excited to add this to my dense pattern tool-box, as I feel there are fewer of this type available. So, I appreciate this addition. Thanks!
I love it! Thank you for this delightful addition to our collection!
Exciting tangle! Thanks for sharing!
A reference to Wavlin is certainly going into my collection of “Tangles in Motion.” Superb.
Very nice I’m off to try. Thankyou
Whew! Last day of February and the last tangle for this month. I’m always glad to see February on its way out, especially since we didn’t get any rain at all here in California the whole month (well, maybe 0.10 inch :-\ ) but it did start raining in the last 1/2 hour so we may be saved. I love love love this tangle and want to try it right away, but it will have to wait a bit. I’ve been de-cluttering my whole house this month and made a wonderful place for all my crafts and drawing. Now I just have to get it organized so I can use it (that may entail getting rid of more stuff……sigh). But it feels so good and when my muscles stop hurting from moving stuff around I’ll be even happier. LOL Happy tangling everyone!
Cyndi I really like Wavlin. This pattern will help me slow down and strive to make straight lines. It will take some practice but I like the optical illusion of a wave.
Thank you for sharing.
Nancy
I love this pattern and I love your Zendala! Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow. Such a seemingly simple tangle and yet so powerful, and such fun to draw. I can think of loads of ways to use this! Thank you!
Very cool and different pattern!
Liking the motion effect. Thanks for sharing. This will be a fun one to play with.
love the look of this tangle…:00
What a wonderfully different kind of tangle!! It creates such a cool effect. Thank you for this, Cyndi!
