C-view is another interesting and fun tangle from Belgian CZT (and encouraging commenter) Ria Matheussen.
Ria explains how she came up with her whimsical C-view tangle:
At the moment, real Springtime has finally arrived in Belgium and our neighbourhood becomes every day a bit greener.
On one of my daily walks, I saw a special plant that I didn’t know. So I searched in books and on the Internet to find more information and the right name. While exploring, these wonderful pictures caught my eye. The Dutch name for the plant is Rupsklaver and Rupsklaver is translated as Medicago.
This is a view (from above) of the fruit of the Medicago , which looks a bit like a caterpillar..
Immediately I saw a new tangle in this special form and started to draw. It is a bigger pattern like Aquafleur, Squid, Drupe and others … and can be very nice, drawn as a monotangle or in combination with other tangles.
This is a fun radial-style tangle to experiment with. For my example of C-view I used the variation Ria shows with longer “protrusions”, inspired by the first photo above and I added a little rounding which adds emphasis to some interesting internal shapes.

A very beautiful tangle, Ria. I love these organic free-form type of tangles. I’m very much drawn to botanical shapes and this fits right in there. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Wow, this pattern reminds me of the Rambutan fruit which we have here in the tropics here in Australia. After peeling off the sort of furry spiky skin, you are left with a delicious, pearly coloured fruit with one large seed inside…uhmmmmm!

Where I live in the US, I can rarely find fresh rambutan but canned rambutan is usually available in any supermarket among Asian foods or canned fruit. Look for a can with a picture of little balls with red spiky skin and white, fleshy interior.

I love the look of C-view. I must try it.
I tried Fission(?) the other day and loved it. It reminds me a bit of one of my favorite tangles AHH!
I will be at least 100 before I get to draw all the tangles but keep them coming. Some really speak to me and others don’t. That’s what makes this art form so much fun. I especially like the variations of many of the tangles.
Tangling has also kept me sane these past 2 yrs coping with our new norm re stroke my husband had. He is definitely on the mend and works hard with all the therapies.
Now on hiatus as we head north to our cottage on the Bruce Peninsula, ON.
Enjoy tangling all summer! I know I will. I have a lovely studio awaiing me built by my husband for me for a birthday one year!!
