How to draw SCARROW

Zentangle pattern: Scarrow. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Today’s Scarrow tangle is another cool one from Taiwan CZT Damy Teng. Prior to today Damy has 24 tangles on the site, Scarrow makes 25!

She points out that Scarrow is composed of an S stroke and a curve or C stroke, two of Zentangle’s five elemental strokes.

By ‘elemental strokes’ we mean a dot, a straight(-ish) line, a curve (like a parenthesis), a reverse curve (like an ‘S’), and an orb or circle.” ~ Zentangle Blog

Damy writes that her inspiration for this tangle …

comes from a painted glass work, but I have forgotten where it came from. It is like four leaves or like four arrows, and finally I chose the arrow, so the tangle is named Scarrow.”

Damy illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Scarrow below and shows two ways to add graphite for different effects.

Here Damy illustrates some variations based on using a reticula (grid) from page 123 of the Zentangle PRIMER Vol 1, reticula # R-D-1.

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.
