This weekend and next mark the start of the last two CZT training seminars for 2016 taking place in Providence, Rhode Island.
Seminar 24 this week and Seminar 25 next week will launch another couple of hundred enthusiastic ambassadors of the Zentangle Method™ across the world. Let’s be the first to congratulate them and wish them well in sharing the wonderful benefits of Zentangle® in their countries and local communities.
Meanwhile here in the TanglePatterns nation, Taiwan CZT Mina Hsiao of Seminar 19’s class is back today with another tangle she’s named 96X.
This tangle was inspired by some gilded wrought iron work Mina spotted while traveling and she took a photo so she could deconstruct the pattern later.

Mina’s grid-based tangle’s name comes loosely from the shapes with which it is constructed: a 9, a 6 and an X.

Here in two lovely monotangles Mina shows several ways 96X can easily be varied by simply adding auras and/or weight to some strokes or varying the graphite fills.

This is a really beautiful tangle, and I plan to use it as a border for a greeting to one friend, if I may do so. It won’t be used commercially, nor for more than this one card, that is.

I’ve just tried this lovely design and might I make a cheeky suggestion? I found that drawing the diamond shapes along the crossed line before putting the scrolls in much easier for me to get an even design. Might just be this old lady though 🙂

I also like to incorporate my “tangles” in my greeting cards and it really adds that personal touch to them. Thank you for this design and I am sure it will be fun to draw. Thank you so much Linda …. I will do that. I just made the 96x – I only made one, not a row of them. I did it on a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 art card. I think it was more difficult making it that big compared to doing it in 3’s. The difficulty being in getting the lines lined up right; I’m sure you know what I mean. The one I just made will be my example. I look forward to making “a chain” of them soon.

I joined back in April but today is really the first day that I have been able to study your ebook. Being an educator who constantly goes to school has deterred my Zentangle experience but I am finished with degrees and am ready to move forward! I might add that my very good friend who introduced me to tangling is attending the Rhode Island seminar this weekend. I’m beyond excited for her. Now…I’m going to play with 96x.
