How to draw HEART BOX

Continuing our Valentine’s Day theme this week, Heart Box is another “super easy” heart pattern by Aussie Helen Williams.

Last year around this time, Helen wrote that she immersed herself in hearts and came up with this one and several others for you to enjoy.

Interestingly, you don’t actually draw a heart shape for this pattern. You start with a simple grid, add alternating regular and reversed number 3-shapes, add a little solid fill and maybe a bit of shading — et voilà. The lovely Heart Box. Very economical.

Helen illustrated the step-by-step instructions for drawing Heart Box here on her blog but her blog has since been retired and he has graciously given me permission to include her original image here on TanglePatterns .
