Tangle Refresher!

I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to all the new tanglers who are just learning about this beautiful, meditative art form of Zentangle® and have found TanglePatterns. Welcome to “the good addiction”! Please feel free to join the community, introduce yourself, and add your comments and thoughts on this or any page. We’d love to “meet” you.

I always encourage people to start by learning a few of the official tangles that are available through the site. These are the tangles by Zentangle® founders Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, and you can create many, many beautiful pieces of art using the official tangles alone. In the process of learning to draw these very elegant tangles, you will also come to appreciate the essence of a real tangle pattern and the Zen of Zentangle. You can find the official tangles on the site in two ways:

  1. click on the tag “zentangle” in the FIND PATTERNS BY TAG section in the left sidebar, or
  2. visit the page menu bar at the top of any page, and under the ZENTANGLES tab, go to Linda’s List of Official Tangles.

In addition to the official tangles, there are many excellent tangles available through TanglePatterns’ resources and today’s Tangle Refresher  introduces you to a few.

The Tangle Refresher series, aka Buried Treasure, highlights hidden tangle gems from the past. It can remind you of tangles you might not have used for a while or introduce you to patterns you might not have come across yet.

Here are five tangle pattern gems from a year ago for your tangling pleasure. Zenful tangling!

    Hello,

Love Zentangle! I used to doodle during class, etc! Some of the patterns on here are ones I used to do! I didn’t know it was an actual art until I saw an add in Herrschner’s craft catalog. Then, of course, I googled it and found this wonderful site! Thank you Rick and Maria for Zentangle!!
