IDOZ Video: Maria and Rick tangle Spoken Huggins

On Tuesday, July 15th, Rick and Maria held a special livestream fundraising event for the Zentangle Foundation on YouTube in celebration of International Day of Zentangle (IDOZ).

In the video Maria talks about Huggins as the “tangle of the year” and its amazing versatility. She explains one “hugg” is a fragment; “many huggs hugging” creates Huggins; it can be used as a grid; it can provide texture, and it has so many potential fun fills.

Beginning around 5:25 in this video Rick and Maria tangle a variation of Huggins Maria calls Spoken Huggins because it builds on the initial strokes of her Spoken tangle. For future reference I’ve also added this video to the Huggins page so you can easily locate it there.

As Maria adds the brown auras inside Huggins she says “So, I’m going to just continue and enjoy this part of the meditation. It might seem so repetitive, but isn’t that what Zentangle is all about? That’s what gets us hooked. If it didn’t repeat, you would be drawing.” The Perfect summary of what makes a tangle and what makes Zentangle, Zentangle.
