Many thanks for your well wishes for getting through Hurricane Idalia. Last night we experienced lots of gusty winds and hard rain but today, apart from the continuing gusty winds, things look sunny and pretty back to normal here. It’s an incredibly strong storm (Category 4) and unfortunately there will be plenty of heartache along its direct path as a result. We are very grateful to have escaped this one.
Okay, last tangle for August!!
Early this Spring Taiwan CZT Curtis Hwang submitted his Wyfound tangle but since the components of it had not yet been released by Zentangle®, I put Wyfound in a holding pattern.
Curtis was ahead of his time.
With our recent Project Pack #21, Zentangle has been running a bonus follow-up challenge. This five-day challenge assigns two tangles for us to combine to create our own Tangle of a Botanical Nature. (I’ve included the challenge details at the end of the Project Pack #21 Summary.)
Curtis writes,
In zenAgain held by Zentangle in November 2022, new patterns of “Wyfore” and “Foundabout” were released to CZTs. For a certain period of time, I drew these two patterns very frequently, so I constructed their combination: the “Wyfound” pattern.
“Wyfound” is a cute pattern that is symmetrical and well-balanced. It is a variation pattern that combines “Wyfore” and “Foundabout”.
Steps 1-2 are like stems that are staggered to the left and right.
Step 3 is to connect the head and tail of the stems with curves to form a slightly fat body.
Step 4 is to connect the body symmetrically.
You can add small patterns at each seam to make it more lively.
Curtis illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Wyfound below and he features it a simple Zentangle tile with his clever, quirky chop. (Am I imaging that it combines the elemental strokes?)
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

- "A Zentangle has no up or down and is not a picture of something, so you have no worries about whether you can draw a hand, or a duck. You always succeed in creating a Zentangle." Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle.
