Hello again my tangling friends, it’s great to see you for another week of tangle inspiration.
But first, sports updates!
Well our annual summer trip to France by way of watching the Tour de France is in its third and final week and it has been crazy, exciting competition and exquisite scenery, as always. Every year the Tour surprises with the changing scenery of different routes – especially mountainous this year, Mont Blanc yesterday – and the steady evolution of the sport through nutrition and technology. Without doubt, professional cyclists are superhuman athletes. And absolutely fearless.
However, not to let up on the sporting excitement, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup begins this Thursday (July 20th) and will captivate us through to the championship’s Final match for the game’s biggest prize on August 20th. The United States are the defending champions, having won the previous two (2015 and 2019) tournaments and looking to make it three in a row. But England has had success in the Euros, host country Australia is looking to make a statement, and football superstars and soon-to-be superstars from all 32 qualifying countries left standing will be on show. Here’s a link to a lineup of the fixtures for those curious.
This round of the once-every-four-years event is being hosted by Australia and New Zealand and Robert has our DVR set up to record the matches for all our favorite countries. (It’s WAY too early in the day our time for us to watch live.) Can’t wait to watch this fabulous competition and through the storylines shared throughout the tournament broadcasts, no doubt we’ll get to experience a little of the lands of our tangling friends down under 🙂
Okay, on to our subject at hand … Our easy Monday tangle Triangle is from Danish CZT Daniela Nielsen and it’s her third on the site.
As simple as Triangle is to tangle, it simply came into being as Daniela writes,
I was just playing around with shapes one day, and this one came forth.
In this sweet ZIA tile Daniela features Triangle with her Bow String, perfs (or a chain of Tipple), and the Zentangle®-originals Moon Pie and Doodah with rounding.
In her ZIA Phi tile Daniela includes Triangle with Bow String and the Zentangle-originals Flux, Tipple, Paradox and Pepper.
Triangle can be filled in a variety of patterns within to create different end results and visual effects and I played with small differences and a touch of weighting in my example.
Daniela illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Triangle below.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

- "A Zentangle has no up or down and is not a picture of something, so you have no worries about whether you can draw a hand, or a duck. You always succeed in creating a Zentangle." Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle. Hi Linda…thanks for mentioning the upcoming FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP here in Australia and New Zealand. For the past weeks I have been volunteering in Sydney as an Accreditation Officer, travelling 3 hours each way from Kiama and working 9-hour shifts.
It’s wonderful meeting and working alongside people from all over the world.
Looking forward to a magnificent tournament, cheers Raylene Holz ??
Triangles within triangles! Having this repetition of shapes allows me to really settle into the flow state on my tiles and I find this tangle very relaxing. I’m enjoying playing with size and shading each time <3
