How to draw F-CLAWIN

We begin this month with a tangle from Russian tangler Alla Leonidova and F-clawin is her first on the site.

I often wonder how many people discovered Zentangle® during COVID-19 days when they suddenly had time on their hands and wondered what to do with themselves. I’m guessing that’s about when Alla began tangling because she writes,

I have been drawing Zentangle [since 2020] with pleasure. I love this meditative drawing very much.

Alla lives in Zelenograd, which she explains is not far from Moscow. From Wikipedia we learn:

Zelenograd was founded in 1958 as a new town in the Soviet Union, and developed as a center of electronics, microelectronics and the computer industry known as the “Soviet/Russian Silicon Valley”.

Alla shares how she came up with her F-clawin tangle,

I quickly and easily drew two eights in the center and surrounded them with pointed petals that look like little claws.

You can draw fewer or more petals as you wish and you can add an aura to them.

The crossed pair of 8’s make a simple and easy start for Alla’s tangle and there are so many ways to enhance it as your creative muse leads you.

Alla illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing F-clawin below and includes several suggestions for embellishing it along with a gorgeous ZIA Zentangle tile featuring it. “On the tile I drew the F-clawin pattern and the Flux pattern.” I spy a couple of Fescu tendrils too. That touch of shading really makes F-clawin pop up on the tile.
