Greetings my tangling friends and welcome to our Wednesday tangles.
You read that right, today we have maybe two bonus tangles (or a great technique) to explore.
But for now, the first: Zwille.
Zwille is from German CZT Henrike Bratz and it, along with its companion Thorned Hollibaugh and Thorned Pokeleaf, are her fourth, fifth and sixth tangles on the site. The others will arrive together in your inbox soon too.
Henrike found her inspiration for Zwille from this drawing by the amazing artist Ernst Haeckel. Haeckel has inspired other tangles on the site, notably CZT Jody Genovese’s Anthem, and Searchin.
On her Zwille post Henrike writes, “The structure of the continuous division, which always leads to a doubling, appealed to me. Each one of the pattern elements reminds me of a slingshot – hence the name.”
For my example of Zwille, I varied a bit on the natural doubling Henrike refers to. Kept to the spirit if not the precise intent 😉
Henrike illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Zwille below and you can also find them here on her website. On her site Henrike includes some great tips for tangling Zwille (be sure to check them out!) as well has her explanation in German and some more great examples done by her students in the class when she introduced it.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
Stay tuned for Henrike’s Thorned Hollibaugh and Thorned Pokeleaf. Thorned Pokeleaf is shown in the ZIA tile on the bottom right above.
