How to draw FRONDOUS

Zentangle pattern: Frondous. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Hello again my tangling friends!

It’s been a while since we enjoyed the release of a Zentangle®-original tangle. Today we’re  exploring one of the very early 102 “official” tangles, Maria’s Frondous.

Frondous is an easy organic/vining tangle with a dramatic flair to it and I think you’ll find lots of applications for it in your Zentangle practice. The aura that binds it together can be drawn with rounded tips or pointed ones, or whatever your creative muse desires.

For the last couple of weeks many of us have been following along with Zentangle’s Project Pack #23 – Birth of the Zentangle Method, part of their year-long 20th anniversary celebration. This particular project is cumulative, the videos are intended to be watched in sequence as we build our project in stages to its conclusion.

Yesterday was Day 10, the final day of the Project Pack #23 series, and tomorrow I’ll be publishing my TanglePatterns Project Pack Summary so keep an eye on your inbox for your notice that it’s available.

As part of the Birth of the Zentangle Method project pack, in this Day 2 video in the series Martha tangles Frondous beginning at 31:09. She starts the day’s video tutorial by adding CZT Margaret Bremner’s 2012 tangle Funls tangle (referred to in the video as puppy huggins).

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

Check out the tag zentangle for more Zentangle-original (aka “official”) tangles on TanglePatterns.com.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle.
