Hello there and welcome back to another week of fun tangles to explore!
A very happy Monday and mindful Memorial Day to you all.
Along with today’s fireworks and festivities we pause to give thanks for and remember the countless men and women through the decades who gave their all for us, heroes who ensured the freedoms we enjoy today …
Before we get underway I want to say thanks from Robert and I for your lovely, thoughtful wishes on the occasion of our 50th Anniversary on Friday. We’re very grateful for lasting this long! 🙂 Onwards for a few more decades, fingers crossed. Thanks again and hugs from both of us!!
Today’s super easy Monday tangle comes to us from Taiwan CZT Damy (Mei Hua) Teng who has 40+ fun tangles on the site.
Damy has a knack of taking very simple strokes and creating easy, interesting patterns from them, just like 0800 and her recent 4 tangle.
0800 – as you might guess – is composed of the shapes of zeros and eights (loosely), as Damy explains:
In Taiwan, the prefix 0800 is for toll free telephone numbers.
This tangle pattern is like the numbers 0 and 8, so named for the 0800.
In this pretty Renaissance Tan tile Damy has achieved a textured and almost 3D appearance with her addition of white highlights and black pen hatching. The white “lettuce” aura-ed edging is very effective too, a bit of Zentangle®-original Amaze/Stiritup. Besides being a CZT and “tangle deconstructor” Damy is also a quilter so this “stitch” is very familiar to her in a different medium.
Damy illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing 0800 below where she features it in a minimalist tile with a little Zentangle-original Tipple going on. The orbs and eight-shapes can be varied in size and embellished in loads of different ways depending on your mood and inclination.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

This is a fun looking tangle. Thank you.
So easy and such a pretty effect. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoy having minimalist tangles in my pocket to pull out when my brain is fatigued and this is perfect! I have been using it for borders and it’s so versatile and playful <3
Thanks, Damy, for a fun new variation on #tipple, which I use quite often. #0800 is now in my toolbox.
Linda,
I want to add my belated congratulations on your 50th Anniversary! That’s quite an accimplishment in this day and age. You are both so lucky to have each other, and I wish you many more happy years tigether! ???
