Happy Monday, welcome back and lovely to have your company once again. Hope you all had a nice weekend …
Today we have another fun tangle named Jag, from Ohio tangler Joan Stark.
Organic tangles are deservedly well-loved and here’s another for our repertoire.
Jag is Joan’s 16th tangle on the site, be sure to check them out!
In Joan’s lovely ZIA featuring Jag she’s included the Zentangle®-originals Tipple and a Mooka-ish Flux. (Or a Flux-ish Mooka? Hmmm … )
She writes,
Today I bring you a tangle titled, ‘Jag’, named after the jagged edges which aren’t really jagged on one side.
I really don’t recall the inspiration for this tangle. Often I find these new tangles coming out of my pen. I think I was working on an organic ZIA and I wanted to make a different kind of greenery. Jag happened. It is a super duper easy tangle.
-
- draw a teardrop or rice shape
- draw a jagged edge INSIDE of the original shape
- fill the space between the two
- veins and lines can be added if desired, along with shading.
Joan illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Jag below, “I’ve included the Jag step-out along with a floral ZIA using it. I tried to add every rose-type tangle that I could find.”
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

- "A Zentangle has no up or down and is not a picture of something, so you have no worries about whether you can draw a hand, or a duck. You always succeed in creating a Zentangle." Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle. I really like this one! Simple & easy yet dramatic. Thank you, Joan!
Thank you Jan for your kind words. And thank you Linda for posting Jag. I hope everyone has fun playing with this tangle.
Joan, at Judy’s tangle bee last night, I told everyone about your tangle JAG on Tangle Patterns and we all liked it and I think Judy will share it with the More class. I have been practicing with it and enjoy it a lot. SONIE
