Today’s Capz tangle from Australian tangler Sue Bailey and it’s her first on the site.
Sue introduces herself and explains how Capz and its name came about,
I’m from Australia and has been tangling for about 18 months. I started tangling when the colouring book craze was at its height. I’d given colouring a go but was a bit frustrated with it and thought I would rather be drawing the pictures. I cam across a book about Zentangle®-Inspired art in a craft shop one day, asked my husband to buy it for me for Christmas and an obsession was born.
The inspiration for this pattern came in the shower. I was thinking about what fun it would be to create a new pattern, then glanced over at my shower cap hanging on the door and there it was! It’s taken a couple of attempts to refine the deconstruction but I think I have the easiest way now. I hope you enjoy it.
Capz is a sibling to Beth Snoderly’s free-form Triadz tangle from four years ago. In fact I enjoyed using the same “continuous line” method to draw Capz starting from the center dot outwards. But certainly for more consistent shape and placement Sue’s method ensures that.
Sue illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Capz below and shows several ways to use her tangle including “in the round”. I used Sue’s last “semi-mirrored” example and her tile following to guide how I presented my example.
Sue’s lovely Zentangle tile featuring Capz as a ribbon-style tangle appearing to float over the tile, together with the Zentangle-original ‘Nzeppel.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.
