It’s been a little while since we’ve had a tangle from California tangler Barbara Finwall, although she’s shared quite a few strings with us. You can find all of Barbara’s contributions to our Zentangle® resources by putting her name in the search box at the top right of any page.
Petal Pusher is a great “Spring” tangle to start out our week. Hopefully there are lots of Spring petals pushing their little green sprouts up and out in your area of the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere it’s Autumn and all of Mother Nature’s continuous wonder that that entails.
Barbara illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Petal Pusher below and features it in a lovely monotangle with some eye-catching variations.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity for you to enjoy.
Check out the tag barbaraf for more of Barbara’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.
String Suggestions
It’s often possible to enlarge a basic tangle and use it for a String.
For example a single grid tangle square (or “seed”, or "fragment") can be penciled on your tile then you can tangle in the sections created. As Bijou says, “Sometimes I even leave a section blank; which is occasionally my best choice!”
This simple idea makes all kinds of Strings possible.
And remember, in Zentangle there’s no right-side-up!
